Old Tariff Rates

• 0 - 100 units: ₹ 0 (Free)
• 101 - 200 units: ₹ 2.35 / unit
• 201 - 400 units: ₹ 4.70 / unit
• 401 - 500 units: ₹ 6.30 / unit
• 501 - 800 units: ₹ 8.40 / unit
• 801 - 1000 units: ₹ 10.50 / unit
• Above 1000 units: ₹ 11.55 / unit

New Tariff Rates (From May 2026)

• 0 - 200 units: ₹ 0 (Free!)
• 201 - 400 units: ₹ 4.70 / unit
• 401 - 500 units: ₹ 6.30 / unit
• Above 500 units:
  Free tier is revoked. Reverts entirely to Old Tariff pricing rules.

Beyond Units: How does kW (Connected Load) affect your bill?

The calculator above shows your Energy Charges (based on kWh/Units). However, your final TNEB bill also includes charges based on your kW (Kilowatt) load.

1. Fixed Charges (Per kW)

Every connection has a "Sanctioned Load" (e.g., 2 kW, 5 kW). TNEB levies a bi-monthly Fixed Charge based on this load, even if consumption is zero.

2. Excess Demand Penalty

If you turn on too many heavy appliances at once and your Maximum Demand (MD) exceeds your Sanctioned Load, TNEB will charge an Excess Demand Penalty.
